Technician Apprentice

About the role

The Apprentice Technician position at East Bay BMW is designed to provide hands-on learning and skill development for those interested in pursuing a career in automotive service. This role serves as an entry point to the Service Technician position, where the apprentice will assist and learn from experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

• Assists Master/Service Technician or Team Leader with examining customer vehicles.
• Assists Master/Service Technician or Team Leader with identifying necessary vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Affords assistance in estimating cost of repairs.
• Documents services performed.
• Effectively utilizes available technologies to enhance customer experience.
• Learns how to perform services efficiently and according to dealership guidelines.
• Follows dealership and manufacturer service guidelines.
• Affords assistance in requesting necessary parts.
• Maintains Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) at or above Company standards.
• Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area.
• Participates in required training.
• Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems.
• Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge.
• Technical training or commensurate technical experience.

Skills

Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system. Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations. Ability to understand and follow technical manuals.

Benefits

Wages include Base Hourly Compensation of between $23.00 and $28.00, depending on skill level. The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit.

Pay

The Technician Apprentice Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly Compensation of between $23.00 and $28.00, depending on skill level. Schedule
