Schedule

2:30 pm – 11:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Occasional overtime on Saturdays.

Pay

Estimated hourly base pay rate: $35.00. Eligible for S&C’s annual short-term incentive bonus, subject to eligibility criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction and installation tasks on continuous improvement and rearrangement projects.
  • Work closely with Product Divisions, Support Organizations, contractors, consultants, and other Facilities personnel.
  • Measure, snap lines, work from ladders, dismantle, and interpret drawings and layouts for rearrangement scope.
  • Disconnect and reconnect equipment and machinery.
  • Cut, bend, install, and dismantle existing piping systems; cut, thread, and assemble piping.
  • Properly terminate piping valves and accessories.
  • Dismantle and assemble pallet and tub racking, pan racks, SUS tubular carts, and roller conveyor.
  • Anchor equipment and accessories to concrete floors and walls.
  • Rig and move equipment both manually and using a forklift truck.
  • Read layouts, diagrams, project commissioning documents, and material lists; conduct field surveys.
  • Perform mild rigging and mill work.
  • Assist other Facilities personnel with survey, engineering, and construction tasks.
  • Exercise judgment and make decisions on assigned projects.
  • Use appropriate welding gases to produce quality welds and set up fixtures for welding assignments.
  • Fabricate, install, and perform detailed assembly work; handle production rearrangements.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent coursework.
  • 5 years of experience as an industrial technician.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, or schematics.
  • Experience in MIG and TIG welding.
  • Proficiency with shop math, hand tools, and mechanical gauges.
  • Demonstrated ability using a variety of hand and power tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical operations.

Physical Demands

  • Standing: Remaining in an upright position 75% of the time with intermittent walking and sitting.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of components ranging from 5 lbs. to 50 lbs.
  • Walking: Frequent walking short distances throughout the plant.
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of equipment components or tools weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Occasional use of hand truck or parts cart to move portable equipment a moderate distance.
  • Bending: Frequent bending required to perform job tasks.
  • Reaching: Frequent reaching to install and remove parts or assemblies from equipment.
  • Handling: Continuous handling of small hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
