About the role

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of equipment in the safest and most effective way to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty lines locations may feature large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil/gas-related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
• Conduct diagnostics and make repairs to minimize downtime
• Work with a variety of equipment, including Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and specialty lines equipment (e.g., generators, pumps, HVAC, oil/gas equipment)
• Adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training desired
• 3 to 5 years of mechanic experience with similar diesel equipment, heavy equipment, or specialty lines equipment (e.g., large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil/gas equipment) strongly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, including troubleshooting skills
• Ability to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade may be required
• Bilingual (Spanish or other) may be required based on location needs

Physical Demands

• Bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching
• Lifting 50 pounds or more
• Working indoors and outdoors as required by the job

Skills

• Advanced hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting
• Flexibility with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with diesel or heavy equipment (preferred)

Benefits eligibility begins on the first of the month following 30 days from your start date.

Pay

Base pay range: $21.38 – $29.39 per hour. Starting rate may vary based on factors including location, education, training, and experience.
