About the role

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of equipment in the safest and most effective way to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty lines locations may feature large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil/gas-related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Conduct diagnostics and make repairs to minimize downtime.
• Work with a diverse fleet, including Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and specialty equipment such as large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil/gas-related equipment.
• Adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training desired.
• 3 to 5 years of mechanic experience with similar diesel equipment, heavy equipment, or specialty lines equipment (e.g., large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil/gas equipment) strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, including troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade may be required.
• Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) may be required based on location needs.

Physical Demands

• Bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching.
• Lifting 50 pounds or more.
• Working indoors and outdoors as required by the job.

Related experience may include roles such as Shop Mechanic, Technician, Service Foreman, Service Manager, Shop Manager, Mechanic Supervisor, Technician Supervisor, Lead Mechanic, Lead Technician, Diesel Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Service Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Hydraulic Technician, Hydraulic Mechanic, ASE Certified Mechanic, or IFPS Certified Technician.

Pay

Base pay range: $21.38 - $29.39 per hour. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
