About the role

Sunbelt Rentals seeks a Mechanic/Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse fleet of equipment—including aerial work platforms, general construction tools, and specialty lines such as large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC, and oil/gas equipment—ensuring minimal downtime and safe operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment to avoid downtime.
• Work on a variety of makes, models, and equipment types, including aerial work platforms, general construction tools, and specialty lines (large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC, oil/gas).
• Maintain safety‑focused work practices while operating indoors and outdoors as required.
• Handle physical demands such as bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, and lifting 50 pounds or more.
• Adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; some trade school or equivalent training desired.
• 3–5 years of mechanic experience with diesel or heavy equipment, or specialty lines equipment (large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC, oil/gas) strongly preferred.
• Related experience may include roles such as Shop Mechanic, Technician, Service Foreman, Service Manager, Shop Manager, Mechanic Supervisor, Technician Supervisor, Lead Mechanic, Lead Technician, Diesel Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Service Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Hydraulic Technician, Hydraulic Mechanic, ASE Certified Mechanic, IFPS Certified Technician.

Skills

• May need to provide own mechanic’s tools of the trade.
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting.
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bilingual (Spanish or other) may be required based on location needs.

Pay

Base pay range: $20.31 – $27.92 per hour; starting rate may vary based on position, location, education, training, and experience.
