Technician 1, Electrical

About the role

This role supports the operation, maintenance, and optimization of plant electrical systems, including medium voltage switch gears, transformers, and low voltage distribution panels. It involves monitoring and operating process control systems and equipment, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical equipment, and supporting 24/7 operations.

Responsibilities

• Aids in the startup of electrical gear such as Low and Medium Voltage switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), power distribution panels (PDPs), uninterruptible power supply (UPS), electrical panels, and endpoint equipment.
• Supports system walkdowns interfacing with Electrical systems.
• Performs preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for all electrical systems.
• Assists with maintenance activities for switchgear (Low and Medium voltage), MCCs, PDPs, UPS systems, switchboards, power panels, and variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motors.
• Interprets electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
• Provides input to the continued improvement and development of the electrical maintenance program, including safety gear selection, maintenance, and test equipment selection, and participation in the training program.
• Pairs with procurement to obtain electrical supplies and equipment.
• Pairs with system engineers and reliability engineers to support equipment enhancements and projects.
• Adheres to all Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations.
• Supports site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours, as needed.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED.
• 1-2 years of electrical experience.
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and testing electrical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical, technical, or related degree.
• Prior experience as an industrial electrical technician.
• Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
