Technical Writing Assistant

About the role

Purpose: To provide assistance in preparing technical documents for high frequency active sonar systems deployed for the U.S. Navy in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL). Location: PICKLE RESEARCH CAMPUS. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA. Earliest Start Date: Immediately. Position Duration: Expected to Continue.

Responsibilities

• Supports project leads by performing the duties of a support writer on multiple projects. This includes assisting with the writing and maintenance of technical user guides, O&M manuals, and other documents in HTML, PDF, and Microsoft Word formats as well as maintaining assigned Gitlab issues.
• Participates in testing and verification of sonar components, as needed, in office and field environments to develop and validate technical documentation.
• Participates in peer editing and publishing processes.
• Participates as a member of the documentation team internal IT working group and supports the management of IT resources, processes, and internal documentation.
• Provides photography and videography support to the documentation team, including capturing and editing multimedia content as needed.
• Other related functions as assigned.

Requirements

• HS/GED
• Three years of clerical experience including some in technical writing.
• Accuracy in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and proofreading
