Technical Writer-Editor (Legal Analyst)
About the role
Assist any practice area or program team within the office, as assigned, to include contracts, fraud, litigation, labor/employment, administrative, and installation law actions.
Edit and finalize documents pending attorney review and signature, where required, manage the publication and dissemination of legal information through various channels, including assigned programs.
Monitor the effectiveness of legal information programs and make recommendations for improvement.
Research, analyze, write, and edit a wide range of legal documents and materials in the assigned legal practice area(s), including litigation documents, investigative materials, policy documents, information papers, legal positions/opinions and analyses, ethics advisories and opinions, newsletters, training materials, handbooks, etc., ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency with agency policies and legal requirements.
Provide administrative and clerical support to attorneys and staff, including filing, organizing, and gathering information, preparing reports and spreadsheets, assisting attorneys, and interacting with people in and outside the Government.
In coordination with the Supervisor, provide team leadership, guidance, training, support, encouragement, and mentorship to team members and in support of DLA Weapons Support’s Office of Counsel’s mission.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Technical Writer - Editor (Legal Analyst), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
- A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Applying legal knowledge in legal writing and editing acquired through roles as a writer or editor of technical reports, articles, manuals or specifications.
- Developing, writing, editing, and publishing a wide range of legal documents, translating complex legal topics into plain language while managing the final distribution of all materials.
- Administering key legal programs such as Ethics, FOIA, and Procurement Fraud, while providing high-level paralegal support and conducting conflict-of-interest reviews for senior officials.
- Conducting in-depth research on complex legal issues to advise senior leadership and using this expertise to create and deliver training materials for agency personnel.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
