About the role
This position offers the opportunity to create impactful communications that support public health initiatives and improve access to critical information. You will develop, edit, and refine executive communications, educational materials, and strategic content for large-scale healthcare programs.
Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and proofread executive-level communications materials, including leadership briefings, presentations, talking points, messaging frameworks, and strategic updates.
- Support the development and execution of strategic communication plans, content calendars, and engagement initiatives for internal and external audiences.
- Create and refine executive briefing packages, leadership reports, progress updates, and other high-visibility deliverables for government stakeholders.
- Collaborate with public health and clinical subject matter experts to produce accurate, culturally responsive, and audience-focused communications.
- Develop educational resources and digital content, including fact sheets, flyers, toolkits, and awareness materials designed for diverse audiences.
- Ensure consistency of messaging across teams and programs by aligning communications with strategic priorities and organizational objectives.
- Review and improve project deliverables, reports, management documents, and presentations to ensure accuracy, clarity, grammar, and overall quality.
- Apply accessibility standards, plain language practices, health literacy guidelines, and branding requirements across all written materials.
- Develop narrative content supporting data visualizations, dashboards, infographics, and stakeholder presentations.
- Maintain organized records of final deliverables and support quality assurance reviews, compliance checks, and reporting activities.
- Manage multiple communication projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Respond effectively to stakeholder feedback and quickly adapt content based on evolving project requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, communications, or related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Health, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience creating content within the public health sector, with the ability to translate complex clinical information into clear and accessible communications.
- Experience writing and editing for federal government clients, with healthcare or public health program experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of accessibility requirements, including Section 508 standards, plain language practices, and health literacy principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, for creating polished professional deliverables.
- Experience supporting complex government projects, transformation initiatives, or large-scale programs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively to different audiences.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Able to work collaboratively with clients, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Able to quickly understand complex topics, incorporate feedback, and adapt messaging accordingly.
- Able to obtain and maintain required public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
