Position Overview

We are hiring experienced Technical Writers to support a large-scale artificial intelligence initiative. You will create, review, and revise highly technical content intended for developers and engineering audiences. This is primarily a technical writing role—not a hands-on software development position. However, successful candidates must be able to read code, understand programming concepts, and clearly communicate technical reasoning. You will work independently within detailed written standards while collaborating regularly with reviewers and project stakeholders. The environment includes daily check-ins, office hours, feedback cycles, and defined expectations for quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Write clear, accurate technical content for developers and engineers
  • Read and interpret source code in one or more programming languages
  • Explain programming concepts, technical decisions, and coding reasoning
  • Follow detailed writing, formatting, and quality guidelines
  • Review and revise work based on editorial and technical feedback
  • Maintain consistent quality while meeting productivity expectations
  • Participate in daily check-ins, office hours, and team meetings
  • Communicate confidently about your writing and the reasoning behind it
  • Work independently while collaborating closely with reviewers and project leads

Required Qualifications

  • At least 4-5 years of technical writing or directly related experience
  • Ability to read and understand code in at least one or two languages, such as: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Java, C or C++, Ruby
  • Experience creating content for a technical, developer, or engineering audience
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication
  • Ability to explain and discuss your own written work in English
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex guidelines
  • Comfort receiving feedback and completing multiple rounds of revision
  • Ability to work independently and deliver consistent, high-quality work
  • Eligibility to work as a W-2 employee in the applicable hiring location

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a large or technology-focused company
  • Familiarity with pull requests, code review, version control, and documentation workflows
  • Experience writing technical requirements documents or developer documentation
  • Background in developer relations, developer advocacy, or technical evangelism
  • Experience contributing to open-source documentation or technical blogs
  • Experience as a coding instructor, computer-science teaching assistant, or technical educator
  • SDET, software engineering, or quality-engineering experience involving code review or annotation
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, or data-labeling projects

What Makes Someone Successful

The strongest candidates combine technical fluency with exceptional communication. They can understand code without needing to be active software developers, translate complex reasoning for an engineering audience, follow exacting standards, and respond constructively to detailed feedback.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • At least 4-5 years of technical writing or directly related experience
  • Ability to read and understand code in at least one or two languages, such as: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Java, C or C++, Ruby
