Technical Trainer
About the role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Technical Trainer to join our team. In this key role, you will deliver hands-on training and learning experiences for new and existing team members across our manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate hands-on technical training sessions in equipment operation, safety, quality, and standard work procedures.
- Deliver and certify training programs related to forklifts, cranes, MEWPs, fall protection, rigging, and other safety-related equipment as required.
- Ensure training content meets OSHA, company, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead new hire orientation and initial skills training for manufacturing roles to ensure readiness for production.
- Conduct equipment qualification and certification training for new and existing employees.
- Create, revise, and maintain training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), presentations, and visual aids to support learning objectives.
- Develop training programs that promote safe equipment operation and compliance.
- Evaluate learner performance through written and practical assessments.
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback to support skill development and certification requirements.
- Partner with supervisors, team leads, EHS personnel, and subject matter experts to identify skill gaps and implement targeted training solutions.
- Support continuous workforce development initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and qualification documentation.
- Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other training databases to track training completion, compliance, and employee development.
- Support internal audits and regulatory compliance reviews.
- Gather feedback and monitor training effectiveness.
- Recommend and implement improvements to training programs, content, and delivery methods.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of training experience in each of the following areas: Forklift Training, Crane Training, Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Training, Fall Protection Training, Rigging Training.
- 3+ years of experience preferred in the above training disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safe work practices, and equipment operation standards.
- Experience delivering technical, safety, or skills-based training in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, or warehouse environment.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for training administration, reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Excellent computer skills, including: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Training databases and reporting tools.
- Ability to create professional training materials, presentations, and instructional guides.
- Strong communication, presentation, coaching, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety, employee development, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Train-the-Trainer certifications related to forklift, crane, MEWP, fall protection, or rigging.
- Experience administering equipment certifications or qualification programs.
- Experience developing training curricula and implementing training strategies across multiple departments.
- Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions
- This position requires significant time on the production floor as well as in classroom, training, and meeting settings.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and demonstrate equipment operation for extended periods.
- Must be able to occasionally lift training materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Flexibility to work various shifts or overtime based on training schedules and business needs.
