Technical Support Specialist I-III or Sr.

About the role

Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing improvement projects, and/or providing diagnostic subject matter expertise to enhance the overall reliability, efficiency, and safety of the plant. The Technical Support Specialist at Lewis Creek is primarily responsible for the Process Safety Management program relating to the Anhydrous Ammonia System and the management of all activities related to the Lewis Creek Reservoir Dam and Spillway. Additional duties include project and contract management as assigned by Plant Management and Entergy.

Responsibilities

Process Safety Management Coordinator (PSMC)

• Ensure employees are involved in PSM implementation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date process safety information for the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
• Ensure the PHA is reviewed every five years and managed through the AIMMS process.
• Develop and maintain procedures for the operation and maintenance of the anhydrous ammonia system.
• Ensure all necessary employees and contractors are trained on the operation, maintenance, and hazards of the anhydrous ammonia system.
• Develop or assist in the development of training for the anhydrous ammonia system.
• Ensure contractors are properly informed of hazards, qualified, and have an acceptable safety program before performing maintenance on the anhydrous ammonia system.
• Maintain the mechanical integrity of the anhydrous ammonia system through Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance programs in AIMMS.
• Ensure design changes to the anhydrous ammonia system are approved by appropriate engineering resources and documented in AIMMS.
• Develop procedures to investigate incidents that could result in a catastrophic release of anhydrous ammonia.
• Ensure emergency procedures are in place to address any unwanted release of anhydrous ammonia.
• Implement hot work procedures prior to performing any hot work on the anhydrous ammonia system.
• Ensure the anhydrous ammonia system is audited every three years to prevent a catastrophic release.

Dam and Spillway Coordinator (DSC)

• Serve as the subject matter expert on the structural integrity of the Dam and Spillway.
• Ensure compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) guidelines for inspections, permits, Emergency Action Plans, and other requirements.
• Address maintenance and safety concerns identified during inspections by TCEQ or the owner.
• Initiate and complete necessary maintenance, repairs, alterations, or modifications in a timely manner following inspections.

Other Duties

• Perform additional assignments as deemed necessary by plant management and Entergy, including contract management, project management, and outage support.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• Desired: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or B.S. Degree in Science in a technical field.
• 6+ years of power plant or relevant technical experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to respond to call-outs and work after normal hours.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.

Working Conditions

• As a provider of essential services, the employee may be required to work additional hours, alternate locations, and perform additional duties during storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.
• Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.
• Travel up to 25%.
