About the role
The purpose of this role is to develop tooling and test programs for finished vehicle yard reflash activities, enabling efficient, scalable global execution of product software updates.
Responsibilities
- Develop and validate tools, processes, and procedures to support vehicle reflash.
- Create customized flash and test configurations files for yard reflash activities.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for reflash campaigns, supporting issue resolution and tool readiness while partnering with deployment teams to improve tool performance, reliability, and usability based on field feedback.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for yard reflash operations through tool maintenance, process automation, and creation of user-friendly applications that improve execution efficiency.
- Lead kickoff meeting with plant, program teams, and engineering to clearly communicate the scope of the reflash campaign.
- Train new hires, peers, and contractors on reflash processes and tools, and document standardized work to support consistent execution.
- Foster a forward-thinking work culture that embraces change and navigates future organizational and industry challenges.
- Build and nurture strategic relationships across various functions including software, manufacturing, and program management to synergize efforts towards future innovations.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on experience supporting vehicle software reflash, diagnostic, or test activities in manufacturing, yard, or end-line environments.
- Strong individual contributor experience owning complex vehicle software reflash execution, including tool preparation, validation, troubleshooting, and deployment readiness.
- Proven expertise developing, configuring, validating, and maintaining vehicle flash and test tooling used in manufacturing or yard reflash operations.
- Deep working knowledge of vehicle communication protocols, diagnostic workflows, and in-vehicle software systems.
- Hands-on experience using vehicle software and diagnostic tools such as NeoVI-Fire2, or vSPY, or DPS, or equivalent platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex, non-standard software or tooling issues impacting vehicle reflash execution.
- Willingness to support production-critical activities, including extended hours, weekend support, and up to 50% domestic and international travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline OR equivalent hands-on experience supporting vehicle software systems in manufacturing environments.
Skills and Abilities
- Solid understanding of vehicle manufacturing and yard operations, including software update flow, end-of-line testing, and production constraints.
- Advanced experience with End of Line Test (EOLT) software development, integration, or support.
- Strong ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous manufacturing environments with limited direction.
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement efforts focused on tooling stability, automation, cycle time reduction, or execution quality.
- Comfortable acting as a technical point of escalation or subject-matter expert during high-impact reflash events.
- Ability to clearly document technical processes, create reusable tooling artifacts, and share knowledge with peers and partners.
- Experience collaborating closely with software engineering, manufacturing engineering, test, and quality teams to resolve complex reflash or vehicle software issues.
- Prior experience working onsite in vehicle assembly plants or finished vehicle yards.
