About the role

As a Technical Specialist, you will provide leadership in technical and design services for renewable DER projects ranging from large-scale commercial to utility-scale. You will collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary cross-engineering team including mechanical, structural, survey, and civil disciplines. You will oversee designs and drawings, conduct steady-state and dynamic power studies and models, and be actively involved in power analysis using tools such as ETAP, OpenDSS, PSCAD, and PSS/E.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical and design services for renewable DER projects from large-scale commercial to utility-scale.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary cross-engineering team including mechanical, structural, survey, and civil disciplines.
  • Oversight of designs and drawings for DER projects.
  • Conduct steady-state and dynamic power studies and models.
  • Use Autocad and/or Revit software for design and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, and IEEE codes and standards.
  • Participate in MV and substation interconnection/protection studies as needed.
  • Act as a technical expert and lead for DER projects connecting at both distribution and transmission levels for utility-scale projects up to 1000 MW-ac / 2000 MWh-dc.
  • Work on projects encompassing solar PV and BESS (battery energy storage systems).
  • Collaborate with the full team to address civil, survey, structural, mechanical, and electrical/MV designs and studies.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in electrical power systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience using Autocad and/or Revit software.
  • Experience with steady-state and dynamic power analyses (ETAP and potentially OpenDSS, PSCAD, and PSS/E).
  • Experience with NEC, NESC, and IEEE codes and standards.
  • Experience with MV and substation interconnection/protection is welcome.
  • Willingness to communicate and ask questions when necessary.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to maintain high levels of precision and accuracy.
  • Able to work flexibly to accommodate varying project demands.

Qualifications

  • PE license is welcome.
  • NABCEP certification is welcome.

Skills

  • Technical expertise in electrical power systems.
  • Proficiency in Autocad and/or Revit software.
  • Knowledge of steady-state and dynamic power analyses.
  • Compliance with NEC, NESC, and IEEE codes and standards.
