Technical Services Technician Level 1 (Texas)
Position Responsibilities and Duties
Direct and take responsibility for safety regulations and work procedures for the team.
Understand, follow, and communicate safety regulations and work procedures.
Coordinates both 3rd party and SOLV O&M repairs.
Creates value added services to existing contractual work.
Field installation of electrical components.
Train and support various regions in PV installations.
Able to travel at least 50% of the year.
Support SOLV sites with various O&M needs.
Implement repairs to unfamiliar solar equipment, systems, and plants with a minimum amount of training and familiarization safely.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent.
- Demonstrate advanced computer operation skills.
- Advanced working knowledge of protection devices, control devices, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters and transformers.
- Ability to pass an exam on international and domestic electrical schematics and symbols.
- Ability to pass an exam on electrical troubleshooting.
- Valid NFPA 70e Safety Training certification.
- Remain Current in all safety and technical trainings.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-sufficient and safe under any conditions.
- Effective verbal and written English language communication skills.
- Effective organizational skills.
- To work well with PM, management, OCC, HV, and Compliance teams.
- Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather).
- Ability to work on an “on call” basis (may include weekends or after-hours situations).
- Ability to work with other techs to be able to complete tasks with these team members.
- Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicle.
- To know complete site scope and contract.
- To know the safety aspects of having other contractors onsite, and the safety requirements.
- To know the proper way to handle a security or safety issues, or who to reach out to if these events occur.
- To interact with various Asset managers and owner’s reps, such as creating and running conference calls, onsite meetings, as well as keeping them effectively connected with the operation of their facilities and repairs.
- To provide detailed costs and services needed to the PM teams for pricing so they can make accurate estimates.
- To find and work with various vendors, as well as understanding the scopes requested.
- To train other techs and know their strengths and weaknesses on onsite items as well as other job activities.
- To maintain leadership qualities to inspire the techs and SOLV environment.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
- Occasional exposure to weather, harsh outdoor environment, vibration, dust and fumes, electric shock, radiation, toxic/caustic chemicals.
- Frequent stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 50 or more lbs.
- Constant finger dexterity and ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, and talk, and possess depth perception.
- Occasional climbing and carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high, exposed, or difficult to access places.
- The noise intensity level may be high.
