Technical Services Director - Remote
About the Role
The Technical Services Director will be wholly accountable for ensuring safe and successful technical services execution in accordance with the account contract, client expectations, and technical services standard processes and best practices. This individual will lead technical services operations delivery to the client, fostering a one-team ISS culture and demonstrating ISS values and behaviors both internally and with client interfaces.
The ISS Technical Services client portfolios include corporate headquarters, corporate offices, large manufacturing facilities, laboratory, pharmaceutical, and various critical environments, retail, and warehousing. This role requires proven experience across the depth of building services assets and close collaboration with the Strategic Account Director, Key Account Manager, OP Lead, and other account leadership.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical services single point of contact for delivery at the account level, ensuring high client satisfaction and supporting service delivery teams for key regional and local initiatives.
- Ensure efficient and consistent operation of all facility engineering activities to meet contractual obligations across the property portfolio.
- Drive the technical services contribution to savings glide paths and account plans, focusing on cost savings, consistency, and risk management.
- Lead and govern the on-account implementation of technical services scope, aligning with North America processes and best-practice technology enablement and maintenance strategies.
- Guide account operational service delivery optimization through best-practice implementation and propose maintenance optimization strategies to the client.
- Foster and lead a cohesive, informed, professional, and responsive technical workforce.
- Support the development and execution of site-level engineering budgets and forecasts in accordance with the account financial timetable.
- Participate in account quarterly business reviews and forecasting sessions to achieve agreed financial targets, including revenues and expenses.
- Support the achievement of technical services growth targets and identify opportunities for cross-selling services.
- Support account leadership in recruitment, performance assessment, personal development, and wellbeing of technical services personnel.
- Actively manage the professional development of all technical services personnel and support succession planning.
- Ensure the implementation of technical services engineering systems and timely reporting from these systems.
- Develop and implement playbooks, standard operating, and maintenance procedures across all account-level technical services operations.
- Drive client-specific initiatives such as savings targets, benchmarking, and best practices, including EHS risk management.
- Act as the single point of contact for escalation of technical services delivery issues and manage relationships with key client stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of the technical services account business plan to meet client and ISS objectives.
- Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the client’s business and key factors influencing their service requirements.
- Represent IFS in external networking forums and client functions.
- Ensure adherence to the client Master Service Agreement and all technical services deliverables.
- Support the achievement of critical/key performance indicators, service level agreements, and audit the account technical services change control process.
- Enforce a zero-tolerance policy for unsafe working practices to target a goal of zero recordable incidents.
- Manage the effective and timely implementation of training plans to enhance and develop the skills of technicians and engineers.
- Ensure engineering practices are continuously compliant with legal, statutory, and contractual obligations.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in building engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership position.
- Proven self-starter who consistently delivers to outcome specifications.
- Proven experience operating in a similar role and environment.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a similar field of study (required).
- Professional Engineer (any discipline and State) preferred.
- Community association credentials (e.g., IFMA, BOMA) strongly preferred.
- Flexibility with regards to working hours and the ability to travel.

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $140,000 - $155,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
