This role combines the development aspects of Parker’s Leader Development Program (LDP) with the duties of a Territory Manager or Account Manager. The Technical Sales Leadership Development Associate (LDA) drives market share growth in a sales territory through Parker products while participating in a competitive, hands-on leadership program designed to build supervision, team leadership, and management skills.
About the Program
- Duration: 1 year
- Structure: multiple rotational assignments at different Parker locations
- Rotations: 1–5 months each, with occasional travel within the location
- Relocation: required during the program; geographic flexibility is mandatory
- Direct reports: none during the program
The program strengthens business acumen and leadership capability through real projects, senior mentorship, and increasing responsibility. Participants cultivate leadership, communication, and strategic-thinking skills essential for future sales leadership roles.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships with OEM customers and distributor accounts to meet position objectives.
- Ensure Parker products are specified to maintain and increase revenue by prioritizing opportunities on an account-by-account basis.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical knowledge of group/divisional products, applications, features, advantages, and benefits.
- Stay current with internal and external training and development.
- Obtain specifications and approvals at engineering firms, major accounts, and/or distributors to develop increased sales opportunities and margins.
- Monitor competitive products and their marketplace activity; provide regular/monthly reports.
- Inform management of changes that could affect the distribution of Parker products and assist in developing response strategies.
- Support divisions in planning strategy to provide products and services required for assigned accounts.
- Actively promote cross-division and group products through proper referral.
- Provide product training at the distributor and customer levels.
- Motivate and direct distributors in sales activities.
- Assist in converting competitive accounts to Parker.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; engineering or business major preferred
- Technical competence; mechanical inclination preferred
- Work experience in sales, marketing, or an industrial/manufacturing environment is a plus
- Overnight travel: 50–75% for the first 12–18 months
- Must relocate domestically to an assigned field/territory after the program
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency (“green card”), or refugee/asylee status required due to ITAR/EAR compliance
