Key Technical Expert – Sheet Metal Fabrication
This role provides technical expertise for sheet‑metal fabrication, bridging sales, engineering, and production to ensure accurate product definition, quoting, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Understand sheet‑metal fabrication processes (cutting, bending, spot welding) and machinery (CNC, mill, router, punch, brake, CMM).
- Write outlines that define specific product requirements for sales quotations and for engineering/manufacturing execution.
- Translate technical information from prints and models into formats understandable by sales and production teams.
- Sales Support
- Assist the sales team in preparing accurate and competitive quotes.
- Accompany business‑development personnel on customer‑site visits to identify and understand customer needs.
- Provide technical product knowledge, material selection guidance, pricing, and manufacturing capability information.
- Collaboration
- Serve as the point of contact for sales and business development on technical questions.
- Bridge the gap between sales, engineering, and production teams to ensure accurate technical information is shared.
- Coordinate with engineering, sales, and business development to thoroughly understand internal capabilities and company goals.
- Maintain sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Quality Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Assist the company with NADCAP activities, including maintaining merit status.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in sheet‑metal fabrication and design.
- 3+ years of technical sales support experience in a related field.
- Familiarity with typical machinery such as mills, punches, and press brakes.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of NADCAP, ISO, and AS quality standards.
- Background in cost estimation or aerospace manufacturing.
