Technical Sales Engineer

About the Role
The Technical Sales Engineer (Applications Engineer) will serve as the key engineering interface to ConMet’s customers, collaborating closely with Key Account Managers and engineering teams to drive current and new business opportunities within the plastics group. In this role, you will act as the primary liaison for operations on engineering and customer issues, providing leadership in engineering and project management to both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing customer engineering relationships, delivering field engineering support, and promoting ConMet’s technical and product solutions.
Responsibilities
- Supports and manages plastics development projects, setting priorities, meeting customer deadlines, and coordinating activities via the APQP process.
- Acts as a customer engineering liaison, building and maintaining a strong customer network.
- Creates and maintains project schedules and milestone tracking to ensure successful project completion and accountability among stakeholders.
- Develops project justifications and ensures target financial goals are achieved.
- Handles quoting responsibilities.
- Facilitates decision-making and product/component selection or specific product development projects.
- Drives continuous improvement of ConMet products and product development processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of five years’ industry experience.
- Prior customer-facing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive or commercial vehicle experience.
- Three years of plastics injection molding experience (highly preferred).
- Experience with the PPAP process and quality documentation, including PFMEAs, DFMEAs, Control Plans, and APQP checklists.

Pay
The full salary range for this position is $91,858 - $157,470 per year. Starting salary varies by location, qualifications, and prior experience. The upper portion of the range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time.
