Technical Quotation Engineer
What you'll do
- Quote Generation: Build detailed, line-item quotations for UL891 Switchboards, Padmount Transformers, and Substations using Giga Energy’s internal pricing tools.
- BOM Development: Create preliminary Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on equipment configurations provided by the Technical Sales Engineering team.
- Vendor Coordination: Interface with third-party component vendors (breakers, gauges, protection relays, etc.) to obtain current pricing and lead times for non-standard items.
- Proposal Packaging: Assemble formal proposal documents, ensuring all technical data sheets, lead-time estimates, and commercial terms are accurately presented to the Customer.
- System Configuration: Perform routine equipment configurations in Giga’s software, ensuring that the selected physical footprints and electrical ratings match the project requirements.
- Margin Analysis: Work with the Director of Technical Sales to review project margins and ensure competitive positioning while maintaining company profitability targets.
- Database Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the accuracy of the pricing database and standardizing quote templates to improve response times for the Account Executive team.
- Sales Support: Provide rapid-response "budgetary" pricing for early-stage project inquiries to help Account Executives qualify opportunities.
- Up to 10%: Internal training and visits to Giga Energy manufacturing facilities.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field (Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology or Construction Management preferred).
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in estimating, quoting, or inside sales within the electrical or power distribution industry.
- Product Knowledge: Foundational understanding of electrical distribution equipment (Switchgear, Transformers, and Substations).
- Detail Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and a "measure twice, cut once" mindset regarding pricing and part numbers.
- Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with both the field sales team and the internal manufacturing/operations teams.

About the role
We are an in-office culture — velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays. Qualifications

Pay
Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional travel to manufacturing facilities.
