About the role
Our client is migrating a MySQL‑heavy production environment to Postgres, documenting a codebase that spans 45 repositories, replacing clinician scheduling and dispatch, and incorporating recent acquisitions. Engineering sits across an onshore team and a wholly owned India‑based subsidiary. The role requires holding several of those threads at once and keeping them moving without waiting to be told what matters.
Responsibilities
- Run delivery for two to three concurrent product workstreams.
- Run ceremonies that add value and drop those that don’t; go beyond administering Jira and reading burndown charts.
- Identify stalled work (e.g., a story in review for nine days) and investigate the cause.
- Work directly with engineers across US and India time zones; set overlap windows, decide what to handle asynchronously, and write specs clear enough that a team eight hours ahead isn’t blocked overnight by ambiguity.
- Translate executive intent (health‑plan commitments, regulatory deadlines, operations conversations) into scoped work: shape PRDs, break them down, negotiate scope when dates are fixed.
- Manage dependencies among product, clinical operations, compliance, and health‑plan clients whose deadlines drive the roadmap.
- Report status honestly, including early warnings, with recommendations attached.
Requirements
- Five or more years running software delivery, with meaningful experience on web applications or platform products (consumer portals, internal tooling, scheduling/workflow systems, or integration‑heavy backends).
- Sufficient technical depth to participate in architecture discussions: able to read schemas, follow API contracts, understand migration risks, and challenge unrealistic estimates.
- Strong product instinct: writing requirements engineers don’t need to reinterpret, making scope calls under fixed dates, and killing low‑value features.
- Proven experience coordinating distributed or offshore engineering teams—demonstrated ability to make the arrangement work, not just tolerate it.
- Comfort operating in a still‑forming process environment; willing to build lightweight processes where none exist.
- Experience with Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe (certification not required).
Skills
- Experience with data migrations, systems consolidation, or post‑acquisition technology integration.
- Familiarity with AWS, Postgres, FastAPI, or React.
- Vendor and contract management.
- Knowledge of healthcare domains (Medicare Advantage, risk adjustment, HEDIS/Star ratings, claims
