Technical Project Engineer

About the role
The Technical Project Engineer (TPE) will be responsible for detailed planning across all engineering activities at York Space Systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and loves formulating and iterating plans as challenges and new opportunities arise. The TPE will support principal engineers to determine the tasks and activities needed to deliver multiple customer programs and R&D projects. They will drive risk management to ensure successful delivery of programs. The TPE is a critical member of our engineering team, contributing to continuous improvement, technical problem solving, and driving the organization and balance of the York engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage detailed schedules for all engineering aspects of customer programs and R&D projects.
- Collaborate with SMEs to identify resources (human and physical) that are necessary for each program.
- Identify and mitigate risks, look across programs to identify systemic challenges, and spearhead solution development.
- Develop strong relationships across the organization through effective communication and leadership.
- Facilitate commitment of key milestones across the organization based on data.
- Coordinate a team of engineers working multiple space projects at once, to include establishing design concepts and criteria, product research, development, testing, and integration.
- Engage with program managers effectively through strong presentation and interpersonal skills; support program managers in customer or supplier engagement if requested.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the engineering organization; spearhead projects as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher education in engineering.
- 2-5 years of experience in project engineering, systems engineering, or program management (level/salary commensurate with experience).
- PMP certification, ACMP certification, or the desire to gain one.
- Demonstrates self-initiated work in a team environment with strong leadership skills.
- TS/SCI clearance desired.
- Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance required.
- Experience using Jira, Python, and Power BI a plus.
- Willingness to work full-time in our Greenwood Village, CO office; this position does not support remote or hybrid work.
