Technical Program Manager III, Generative AI, Google Drive
About the role
Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Responsibilities
- Drive the end-to-end life-cycle of Google Drive GenAI projects by gathering technical requirements, assessing risks, and managing milestones. Prioritize features alongside product and engineering teams, leveraging a deep understanding of algorithms and GenAI strategy to lead technical discussions and pseudo-coding initiatives.
- Partner with engineering and product management to define drive-specific requirements, dependencies, and resource schedules. Identify technical bottlenecks, implement risk mitigations, and resolve complex issues to ensure the successful delivery of high-demand Google Drive directives.
- Exercise independent judgment to develop program recommendations that translate into actionable plans.
- Implement process improvements by identifying, developing, and implementing process improvements to help the team scale.
- Demonstrate technical knowledge and thought leadership in algorithms and GenAI strategy to enhance project efficiency and distill complex technical concepts into actionable steps for engineers and leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in program management.
- Experience with software development program management.
- Experience with Generative AI Models.
Preferred qualifications
- 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
- 5 years of experience as a technical program manager.
- Experience in launching AI/ML features.
- Able to define projects, execute within timelines, and with multiple stakeholders, and to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Excellent investigative and quantitative skills.
Qualifications
- Preferably, 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
- Preferably, 5 years of experience as a technical program manager.
- Preferably, experience in launching AI/ML features.

Benefits
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
