Technical Program Manager-DDR Shift Left

AMD · Austin, TX · 4 days ago
HybridInformation TechnologyFull-time

The Role

The Memory Subsystem team is seeking a Program Manager to support execution planning, cross-functional coordination, and delivery readiness across Memory Subsystem and Shift Left teams. This role focuses on enabling structured execution across pre-silicon, emulation, SoC integration, firmware-driven readiness, lab alignment, and bring-up support. You will help ensure the Memory Subsystem and Shift Left teams have clear plans, visibility into risks, aligned ownership, and disciplined execution across multiple concurrent programs.

This includes tracking AI-assisted engineering adoption as a first-class execution metric, given the team's strong and growing use of AI development tools across RTL, verification, and debug workflows. You will partner closely with engineering leaders, technical leads, firmware teams, SoC teams, emulation teams, lab teams, and external partners to align milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables. This role emphasizes technical program execution in addition to planning and coordination.

The Person

You are a program manager with strong technical experience and a demonstrated ability to support complex semiconductors, SoC, firmware, platform, or system-level engineering programs. You have experience collaborating across engineering disciplines and understanding technical dependencies well enough to identify risks, clarify ownership, and facilitate resolution. You help create structure and alignment in evolving technical environments and support teams across changing priorities, multiple locations, and concurrent programs. You embrace AI as a force-multiplier for program execution — using AI tools to compress reporting cycles, improve data-driven visibility, and free up time for higher-value coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive program execution planning across Memory Subsystem and Shift Left activities
  • Coordinate milestone planning, status tracking, risk management, and dependency resolution across multiple memory subsystem programs
  • Partner with engineering leaders across Austin, Markham, Raleigh, firmware, SoC, lab, emulation, and platform teams
  • Build and maintain execution plans that connect pre-silicon readiness, Shift Left execution, firmware-driven flows, lab readiness, and post-silicon bring-up support
  • Track readiness across key areas including simulation, emulation, firmware execution, memory model integration, regression stability, coverage visibility, and debug resolution
  • Improve visibility into execution gaps, schedule risks, resource constraints, and cross-team dependencies
  • Drive structured communication for weekly execution reviews, program checkpoints, and leadership updates, using AI tools to accelerate the generation and synthesis of status content
  • Support Shift Left planning across multiple concurrent programs, including execution workflows, scenario expansion, debug readiness, and SoC integration readiness
  • Partners with engineering managers and technical leads to define measurable deliverables, ownership, and closure criteria
  • Support coordination of contractor-delivered work and external partnerships aligned with Memory Subsystem priorities
  • Create clear, concise, executive-ready status summaries for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, applying AI-assisted drafting and data synthesis to improve speed and consistency
  • Identify process gaps and drive improvements in planning, tracking, reporting, and escalation mechanisms, including opportunities to apply AI and automation to reduce manual effort
  • Track and report team AI-adoption metrics (participation, tooling usage, productivity impact) and help drive continued AI enablement across Memory Subsystem and Shift Left teams
  • Support execution across multiple locations, including alignment between Shift Left, lab, and UU execution activities

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in program management, technical program management, or engineering execution roles within semiconductors, SoC, platform, firmware, IP, hardware, or related technical development environments
  • Experience supporting or leading program reviews, risk reviews, milestone checkpoints, and cross-functional execution meetings
  • Experience building dashboards, execution scorecards, dependency trackers, Jira/Confluence workflows, or similar planning and reporting mechanisms
  • Hands-on use of AI productivity tools (e.g., AI assistants for summarization, reporting, and data synthesis) to improve program management efficiency
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows and the ability to track and communicate their adoption and impact is beneficial
  • Familiarity with DDR, LPDDR, memory subsystems, SoC integration, firmware, BIOS, emulation, simulation, or post-silicon bring-up is beneficial
  • Experience supporting engineering teams working across both pre-silicon and lab environments is beneficial
  • Experience coordinating contractor-delivered work or external engineering partnerships is beneficial
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams is beneficial
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to summarize complex engineering status for leadership audiences
