Technical Program Manager, Capacity and Constraint Intelligence
About the role
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Responsibilities
- Co-author the technical and product roadmap to evolve the platform into a real-time, proactive execution oversight dashboard.
- Establish telemetry models that capture live operational data to show actual execution versus capacity in real time.
- Standardize operational frameworks and lead complex integrations across domains (e.g., logistics, supply chain) to seamlessly capture previously invisible workflows.
- Act as the primary technical interface for partners, ensuring foundational schemas align perfectly with downstream dependencies for total compliance.
- Deconstruct complex problems into executable phases. Execute a crawl, walk, run delivery model to match real-time telemetry with legacy systems.
- Advocate the program organization-wide by building deep engineering alignment.
- Mentor peers and introduce agile practices to drive rapid, incremental value.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in technical program management, systems engineering, or software engineering management, with experience in shipping distributed systems or data platforms.
- Experience working with high-throughput data pipelines, real-time logging/processing infrastructure (e.g., Kafka, BigQuery, MapReduce), and API integrations.
- Experience managing system integrations and multi-quarter technical initiatives from concept to deployment across engineering organizations.
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
- Familiarity with theory of constraints, queuing theory, or industrial engineering principles (e.g., measuring capacity utilization, backlog constraints, and operational productivity).
- Deep understanding of data center physical operations, supply chain logistics, capacity planning, or hardware systems.
- Demonstrate executive presence with the ability to confidently present technical trade-offs to Directors and VPs, resolving organizational friction with diplomacy and data.
- Exceptional ability to conceptualize complex end-to-end workflows and build the data/software glue to connect disparate systems (e.g., physical tech toil metrics, hardware diagnostics, and workforce schedules).
Skills
- Technical expertise in technical program management, systems engineering, or software engineering management.
- Experience with high-throughput data pipelines, real-time logging/processing infrastructure, and API integrations.
- Experience in managing system integrations and multi-quarter technical initiatives.
- Experience in cross-functional or cross-team project management.
- Executive presence and ability to present technical trade-offs.
- Ability to conceptualize complex end-to-end workflows and build data/software glue.
