Technical Program Manager, AWS Ground Station, Aerospace Solutions (AES)

About the role

Aerospace Solutions includes AWS Ground Station, a fully managed global Ground Station as a Service (GSaaS) that allows customers easy and cost-effective satellite control, ingest and process satellite data, and innovate with other AWS Services. It provides satellite customers ground station services with no ground station infrastructure commitments, usage-based per-minute pricing, self-service scheduling, and a global network of ground stations in close proximity to AWS Regions so customers can access AWS services, infrastructure and global network within milliseconds of downlinking data from their satellite.

Key job responsibilities

• Work across product, program, engineering, hardware, software, and infrastructure teams to manage requirements, scope, and delivery of worldwide AWS Ground Station features and locations
• Represent the service architecture and technical needs across Amazon including spectrum licensing
• Assess risks, anticipate issues, overcome technical obstacles, and make difficult trade-off decisions while managing cost and schedule to drive deployment goals and meet customer commitments
• Represent program status to senior leadership
• Influence teams' decisions and drive secure and scalable solutions through program management expertise and operational excellence
• Own the planning and execution of a new service managing cross-team and cross-org development and delivery
• Participate in architecture decisions and design reviews
• Represent the service to Senior and Executive leadership
• Work with software developers, networking engineers, product managers, and other organizations to deliver new services and features

A day in the life

In this role, you will own the planning and execution of a new service managing cross-team and cross-org development and delivery, participating in architecture decisions, design reviews, and represent our service to Senior and Executive leadership. You will work with software developers and networking engineers along with product managers and other organizations to deliver new services and new features to create the best in class solutions for our customers worldwide. Candidates must be comfortable with ambiguity and eager to embrace ownership and accountability.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
• 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
• 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
• 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
• Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred qualifications

• Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering
• Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
• Experience with network, system, or software architecture
• Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
• Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
