At the United Center, we bring excitement to life through sports, entertainment, and community. Home to the Chicago Bulls (NBA) and Chicago Blackhawks (NHL), we've welcomed over 70 million fans and host more than 200 events annually, from premier sporting events and concerts to family shows and special industry events. In the role as Technical Productions Technician I, you will help our team bring the next round of stories to life on the United Center campus.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and strike audio, video, and lighting equipment for live events
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs to ensure smooth show execution
- Manage production kits, track AV schedules, and coordinate setup logistics
- Handle cable terminations and maintain clean, organized workspaces
- Clock warranty repairs and RMA shipments, and test gear upon return
- Stay current on industry trends, new technologies, and production best practices
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with a customer-first mindset
- Support “Day of Game” responsibilities and other show-day tasks as needed
- Jump in wherever needed to support the team and ensure a flawless event experience
Requirements
- Certificate from a technical school or 6–8 months of hands-on AV experience; or equivalent combination of both
- Working knowledge of AV systems and comfort in a live production environment
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
- Able to collaborate across teams and communicate with clients and stakeholders at all levels
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours as events require
- Experience reviewing vendor services or coordinating logistics is a plus
- Eagerness to grow professionally through training and learning emerging technologies
- Able to take on both technical and light supervisory responsibilities when needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license

- Technical proficiency with audio, video, and lighting equipment

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Benefits
- The pay range for this role is $48,000-52,000 annually.
- Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
- The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, 401K retirement plan with company match, paid time off and commuter benefits.
