About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, delivery-focused Product Owner to drive execution across our transactional product domain, where customers browse, redeem, purchase, and complete critical transaction journeys. In this role, you will own the backlog for one or more squads, turning roadmap priorities into clear, actionable, sprint-ready work that enables engineering teams to deliver with speed and confidence. You’ll serve as the day-to-day decision-maker for scope, story clarity, and acceptance criteria—partnering closely with engineering, QA, design, and business stakeholders to keep delivery moving, reduce ambiguity, and ensure high-quality releases.
Responsibilities
- Own and actively manage the product backlog for one or more squads, ensuring stories are clear, prioritized, and aligned to roadmap objectives.
- Write detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, and edge cases that minimize ambiguity and support efficient engineering execution.
- Partner with Product Managers and Technical Product Managers to prioritize sprint and release scope across new capabilities, defects, enhancements, and technical debt.
- Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, story refinement, and readiness discussions to maintain a healthy pipeline of well-defined work.
- Act as the primary point of contact for engineering questions during sprint execution, making timely decisions on scope, tradeoffs, and requirement clarification.
- Validate delivered functionality against acceptance criteria by reviewing builds and testing end-to-end flows such as checkout, redemption, payments, and order status.
- Manage defect triage by documenting issues clearly, assessing impact and severity, prioritizing fixes, and tracking resolution through production release.
- Break down roadmap initiatives into epics, features, and small, shippable user stories that can be delivered incrementally and tested effectively.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing with business stakeholders, gather feedback, and secure sign-off prior to launch for business-critical functionality.
- Support release readiness by confirming documentation, release notes, rollout plans, dependencies, and feature flags are in place before deployment.
- Monitor post-release performance, including adoption, defects, and support trends, and use insights to improve backlog quality and future delivery.
- Facilitate strong communication across engineering, QA, design, and business teams to ensure alignment and continuity from planning through release.
- Champion delivery best practices such as Definition of Ready, Definition of Done, traceable requirements, fast feedback loops, and disciplined defect prioritization.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, ideally supporting technical, platform, or digital product teams.
- Strong experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and backlog items for engineering teams.
- Proven success working in agile and scrum environments, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and daily standups.
- Working knowledge of transactional and e-commerce concepts such as catalog, checkout, payments, order management, and redemption flows.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools for backlog management, documentation, and team collaboration.
- Ability to read and interpret technical artifacts such as API specifications, system flows, and data models well enough to write accurate, implementation-ready stories.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify edge cases, inconsistencies, and requirement gaps before development begins.
- Experience coordinating UAT and partnering effectively with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to balance priorities and keep teams aligned under tight delivery timelines.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with payments, loyalty or rewards platforms, retail, or marketplace environments.
- Basic SQL skills for validating defects, investigating issues, or measuring feature outcomes.
- Familiarity with API tools such as Postman and documentation standards such as Swagger or OpenAPI.
- Exposure to mobile app release cycles across iOS and Android.
- Experience with feature flagging, phased releases, or controlled rollout processes.
