About the role
The Technical Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining production equipment. This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly to equipment or process issues.
Responsibilities
- Operating assigned production equipment in accordance with procedures
- Maintaining production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing
- Monitoring machine performance and product quality throughout the production process
- Performing routine equipment adjustments and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Identifying, documenting, and escalating mechanical, electrical, or process issues as needed
- Conducting equipment changeovers, setups, and line clearances
- Performing basic preventive maintenance tasks and assisting maintenance teams as required
- Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality and specification standards
- Accurately completing production, downtime, and quality documentation
- Following all safety, GMP, and regulatory requirements
- Participating in continuous improvement, 5S, and Kaizen activities
- Training and supporting less experienced operators as assigned
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Responding to production upsets in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensuring that processes are completed accurately and according to the production schedule
- Providing daily coverage of production line processes to ensure smooth and effective operations, including a rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize productivity
- Investigating and implementing countermeasures to improve product yield
- Evaluating necessary changes to the line, supporting quick fixes, and improving line reliability
- Ensuring manufacturing lines produce quality products safely and efficiently
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or technical operations environment preferred
- Basic mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
