Technical Operations & Training Lead

THE ROLE StreamU is hiring a Technical Operations & Training Lead to build the technology behind our streams and train the people who run them. This is the senior technical role in the program: you’ll develop StreamU’s streaming technology, train and certify every campus Head of Stream Production, and act as our lead operator and troubleshooter across university studios. Based in Berkeley, California, you will travel to campuses regularly — embedding on site 3–5 days at a time to stand up new studios and develop the incoming Head of Stream Production. It’s hands-on and cross-functional: part builder, part trainer, part operator. What You’ll Do Train the Head of Stream Production Network: Train and certify every campus Head of Stream Production to a consistent standard. Embed on each new campus 3–5 days to stand up operations and develop the incoming lead.Develop StreamU Technology: Build, test, and improve the streaming tools, workflows, and technical infrastructure the entire network runs on.Technical Operations & Support: Serve as the senior technical operator and support resource, troubleshooting university studios both remotely and on site.Production & Run of Show: Assist with live production and run-of-show execution across campuses, especially for launches and major streams. What You Bring Advanced live production expertise. Deep hands-on command of encoders, audio chains, OBS-class tooling, and on-location connectivity.A trainer’s mindset. You can teach what you know and certify others to a consistent standard across campuses.Technology development ability. You build and improve tools and workflows, not just operate them.Calm, fast troubleshooting. You diagnose and resolve issues under live pressure, on site or remotely.Willing to travel and embed. Comfortable spending 3–5 days on campus to stand up studios and develop local leads.Streaming culture fluency. Command of the Twitch, Kick, and X (Twitter) ecosystems — formats, norms, and what audiences respond to.
