About the role
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day.
Responsibilities
- Play a leading role in a highly reliable infrastructure that's responsible for business growth.
- Collaborate across Ads teams to understand client teams' needs, identify opportunities, and deliver impact.
- Identify performance optimization opportunities and deliver latency/resource savings.
- Build automation systems and related tools to operate this large and critical system at scale.
- Focus on operational efficiency and excellence which requires technical experience with distributed systems, production infrastructure, and a history of delivering impact in a changing organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Go or Python.
- 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Expertise in large systems indexing, serving, performance tuning and with automation systems and related infrastructure.
Pay
$262000 - $365000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits
