About the role
We are seeking a Cardiology and Hemodynamics Imaging Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as the clinical and functional anchor for end-to-end Cardiology PACS / CVIS and Hemodynamics implementations.
Responsibilities
- Function as the clinical and functional SME across the cardiovascular imaging portfolio: echocardiography (TTE, TEE, stress echo, strain), cardiac catheterization / angiography (XA), electrophysiology (EP), vascular ultrasound, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT/MR, and ECG/EKG management.
- Capture, document, and validate the cardiology order-to-report lifecycle ordering, scheduling, modality worklist, acquisition, reconciliation, measurement, structured report building, sign-off, and results delivery to the EMR.
- Lead current-state and future-state workflow design sessions with cardiologists, Cath lab staff, sonographers, EP and Cath techs, and nursing, surfacing clinical requirements and edge cases that purely technical analysis tends to miss.
- Serve as the bridge between the clinical community and the technical / integration team, ensuring functional design reflects real clinical practice and protects patient safety and clinical quality.
- Provide functional expertise on hemodynamic monitoring systems (e.g., GE Mac-Lab, Philips Xper, Siemens Sensis), including procedure logs, pressure and waveform capture, and case documentation.
- Map hemodynamic data flow into the CVIS and downstream reporting and EMR, ensuring procedure data, measurements, and reports reconcile cleanly across systems.
- Validate Cath lab and EP lab workflows from patient arrival through procedure documentation, structured report, and results finalization.
- Design and build structured reporting templates, measurement packages, macros, auto-text, normal value ranges, and auto-population logic for cardiology reports.
- Configure worklists, procedure logs, reconciliation rules, and results routing, ensuring functional alignment with clinical workflow.
- Validate measurement and quantification mapping (including DICOM SR) from modalities into the structured report so values flow accurately and consistently.
- Support functional configuration of EMR-to-CVS integration points (e.g., Epic Cupid, Cerner Cardiology), focused on clinical correctness of orders, results, and reports.
- Author clinical and functional test scenarios and detailed test scripts covering end-to-end cardiovascular workflows, including expected clinical outcomes and edge cases.
- Lead functional, integration, and regression testing, document results, log defects, and drive triage and resolution with the technical team and vendors.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with clinical end users building test plans, training participants, managing execution, and tracking sign-off.
- Perform clinical validation and parallel testing to confirm the accuracy of measurements, structured reports, and results before go-live.
- Build and deliver super-user and clinical end-user training tailored to cardiology and hemodynamics workflows.
- Provide firsthand go-live and hypercare support, rapidly diagnosing clinical workflow issues and coordinating fixes.
- Drive clinical adoption and change management, partnering with clinical leadership to embed new workflows and address resistance.
- Produce clear functional and workflow documentation design specs, workflow narratives, test artifacts, and training material throughout the engagement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience supporting Cardiology PACS / CVIS or Hemodynamics implementations in a clinical, functional, or applications analyst capacity.
- Proven experience with structured reporting, measurement/quantification packages, and report-template configuration.
- Demonstrated experience authoring test scenarios and test scripts and leading or facilitating clinical UAT.
- Solid understanding of cardiovascular modalities, procedures, and the order-to-report clinical workflow.
- Working technical fluency in DICOM and HL7 concepts sufficient to collaborate with integration teams and troubleshoot workflow issues.
- Experience with Epic (Cupid), Cerner, or other EMR integration with cardiology systems, from a clinical/functional standpoint.
- Understanding of IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) Cardiology profiles and their impact on system behavior.
- Familiarity with cardiology workflow optimization, lean processes, and quality improvement methodologies.
- Active clinical credential (RCIS, RCS, RDCS, RVT, RN) or comparable cardiology certification.
- Experience with change management and clinical adoption strategies.
- Project management experience or PMP certification.
- Working familiarity with VNA architecture, image migration, and basic scripting/query skills (SQL, PowerShell, or Python) to support investigation and PACS administration tasks.
