Technical Lab Equipment Installer (Permanent)

About the Role

The Technical Equipment Installer is responsible for the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of hardware within our labs. This role ensures all installations adhere to industry standards, organizational protocols, security procedures, and safety regulations. The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, requiring adaptability and a willingness to contribute beyond primary responsibilities to support team success.

Responsibilities

• Execute the installation of servers, network switches, storage devices, racks, and associated hardware in strict accordance with technical specifications and site requirements.
• Organize, terminate, and label network and power cabling to ensure optimal connectivity and systematic arrangement throughout the labs.
• Provide assistance during the initial configuration and program maturity phases of new or existing racks and benches, including installing or removing equipment to ensure operational readiness and integration or decommissioning of supported programs.
• Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all equipment installations, including serial numbers, rack elevations, bench equipment, and locations to facilitate asset management and troubleshooting.
• Rigorously observe all safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards (e.g., electrostatic discharge protection and fire safety) during installation tasks.
• Diagnose and resolve routine installation issues, escalating complex technical problems to senior personnel or external vendors as needed.
• Coordinate closely with network engineers, system administrators, and project managers to align installation activities with project timelines and requirements.
• Contribute to the removal, replacement, and upgrading of data center equipment as mandated by operational needs.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and meticulous inventorying of equipment and associated components prior to installation.
• Communicate professionally with internal stakeholders and external vendors throughout all phases of installation projects.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in the installation of server, network, and storage hardware.
• Fundamental understanding of data center infrastructure and cabling standards.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams and installation manuals.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
• Physical capacity to lift and transport equipment (minimum of 30 lbs).
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
