About the Role

Battelle's Infrastructure Safety and Security (ISS) business is pursuing a high-profile support program for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) client. The scope of this program includes a full spectrum of research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) support. This full-time position is located in the greater Washington, DC area.

The Technical Editor will review and provide detailed editorial feedback on technical documents related to systems engineering, T&E, policies, requirements, and standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage time-sensitive reviews, and deep familiarity with DHS T&E policy and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review technical documents related to systems engineering, T&E, policies, requirements, and standards, and develop detailed comments, corrections, questions, and improvement recommendations in comment matrix or narrative format.
  • Participate in comment adjudication meetings when requested, contributing subject matter expertise to resolve editorial and technical discrepancies.
  • Manage priorities and schedules to flexibly support time-sensitive document reviews and provide rapid recommended responses.
  • Support program planning and oversight activities, including exercise development, execution, and evaluation.
  • Assist with system-level analysis and system integration support, including assessment of threats and vulnerabilities as they relate to documented requirements and standards.
  • Support technical assessment and evaluation activities to complement government technical experts in applying acquisition efforts and RDT&E toward the DHS mission.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively in written and verbal formats to diverse stakeholders, including senior government personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in technical writing or editing.
  • Experience with T&E policies, requirements, and standards.
  • DHS T&E Level 1, DAWIA T&E Foundational Level 1, and/or CTEP (Certified Test and Evaluation Professional) certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Secret level clearance with ability to obtain DHS Suitability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting DHS programs.
  • Active DHS Suitability.
  • Experience providing assistance with program planning and oversight, exercise development and execution, and program evaluation.
  • Experience with system-level analysis, system integration support, and understanding of threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience with technical assessment and evaluation to support government technical experts in applying acquisition efforts and RDT&E toward accomplishing the DHS mission.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $79,700 – $113,500 per year. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
