Technical Director, Project Management
About the Role
WSP is seeking a Technical Director, Project Management for our Mountain Pacific Region. This role supports major transportation programs and projects, overseeing cross-functional teams to execute project work, manage budgets, and ensure compliance. The position can be based in any of our Pacific Northwest offices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams to execute project work on mid-to-large and/or multiple concurrent projects.
- Manage budgets, track hours and expenses, task completion, cost, compliance documentation, and contractual obligations.
- Support the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
- Assist Program and Project Managers with budget development, monitoring, Estimate to Completes (ETCs), recovery plans, and invoices.
- Help with change management, quality management, and contract change orders.
- Support subcontract development and amendments.
- Maintain regular communications with clients, including reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues.
- Manage administration, contract compliance, and key financial elements for multiple portfolio contracts and large-scale projects.
- Assist in developing Project Management reporting needs and tools.
- Monitor project progress, claims, and invoicing/payments.
- Support the development and updates to Project Initiation/Setup Documentation.
- Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Manage and provide performance guidance to assigned project management staff.
- Develop competitive grants for transportation projects.
- Support local growth, forecast, and business development strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of relevant post-education experience with 5+ years in transit and transportation projects.
- Proficient understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C industry.
- Essential project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAP-M) or established equivalent experience.
- Highly proficient analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead mid-level to senior-level team members.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite, project management tools, and technical writing.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adhering to company policies.
- Ability to work schedules beyond the typical workweek as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background knowledge of transportation planning, design, or construction industry.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or other project scheduling software.
- Experience designing Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Ability to prepare written correspondence and presentations.
- Ability to learn and train others on enterprise systems.
- Desired programming experience.
Pay
Expected Salary: $176,000 - $259,000
