Structural Integrity Associates is seeking a senior technical and people leader to help shape the future of our steam turbine generator consulting practice. This highly visible role combines technical excellence, team leadership, and market impact to support the reliability, safety, and long-term performance of critical power generation assets.

About the role

As Senior Technical Leader / Manager, Steam Turbine Generator, you will guide high-impact client work, influence the direction of a specialized engineering team, and expand a service offering that serves the energy industry. You will mentor and grow talented engineers, shape differentiated consulting solutions, strengthen strategic client relationships, and serve as a trusted expert in steam turbine and generator engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as SI’s recognized technical leader for steam turbine and generator engineering, asset life assessment, and integrity consulting
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of steam turbine generator engineers, fostering technical development, collaboration, and long-term capability building
  • Guide strategic consulting engagements that help clients extend asset life, improve reliability, resolve complex failures, and make informed risk-based decisions
  • Provide technical direction for advanced engineering evaluations involving fracture mechanics, creep, fatigue, thermal and stress analysis, and finite element methods
  • Shape the quality and technical credibility of client deliverables, proposals, reports, and recommendations
  • Build trusted client relationships, identify growth opportunities, and help expand SI’s presence in the steam turbine generator market
  • Partner on proposal strategy, scope development, and project planning to position SI for continued success
  • Collaborate with engineering, nondestructive examination, materials, and business development teams to deliver integrated solutions to clients
  • Represent SI with clients and in industry forums, conferences, and user groups to strengthen market visibility and technical reputation
  • Help shape the future of the practice through planning, process improvement, and the development of differentiated consulting capabilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; an advanced degree is a plus
  • PE registration in one or multiple states is highly valued
  • Significant experience in steam turbine generator engineering, rotating equipment, or power generation asset integrity
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: life assessment, fitness-for-service, root cause failure analysis, fracture mechanics, creep, fatigue, thermal or stress analysis, or finite element analysis
  • Demonstrated success leading technical projects, developing teams, and guiding multidisciplinary engineering efforts
  • Strong client-facing consulting skills and the ability to communicate complex technical issues with clarity and credibility
  • Experience supporting proposals, scope development, and business development initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in standard engineering and business software tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience in steam turbine generator operations, engineering consulting, technical advisory services, or application engineering
  • Background in steam turbine generator design, root cause analysis, operation, repair, outage support, or life extension programs
  • Experience with CAD and finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS or Abaqus
  • Knowledge of materials, welding, nondestructive examination, and common damage mechanisms affecting rotating and high-temperature components
  • Experience presenting at industry conferences or participating in user groups and technical committees

Travel

Travel is expected based on client and project needs and may include site visits, client meetings, industry conferences, and occasional internal meetings. Travel frequency varies with project demands.

Pay

The expected salary range for this role is $144,000 - $173,000. Exact pay will be based on location, experience, and qualifications.
