Technical Director, Hydraulic and Hydrology Engineering
The Role
The Senior Hydraulic and Hydrology Engineer will lead the analysis and design of hydraulic structures, oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis and design of hydraulic structures, including dams, channels, culverts, spillways, and stormwater management systems.
- Oversee and conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM).
- Develop and review technical reports, designs, specifications and permit drawings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, environmental scientists, and urban planners.
- Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, and standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project progress and ensure quality control.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Resources.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in hydraulic and hydrology engineering or a closely related field.
- Certified Floodplain Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience leading a client or sector program.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrology software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM).
