About the role
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D models, detail part drawings, assemblies, installations, and interface control documents
- Support configuration development, run trade studies, and develop concepts
- Develop conceptual designs, participate in design reviews, and conduct trade studies
- Bring designs to release maturity through detailed design, drafting, and drawing creation
- Coordinate design updates and maintain schedules, and plans
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to procure, fabricate, test, and ultimately fly the hardware you have helped craft
- Apply technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight
Qualifications
- Experience with Creo (Pro/E), CATIA, Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) practices
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.100 and Y14.41
- Understanding or familiarity with basic engineering disciplines - mechanical, structural, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, etc.
- Experience with rapid development techniques for hardware
- Experience with analysis codes: Nastran, ANSYS, Optistruct, Abaqus, HyperMesh, Hypersizer
- Previous professional experience (internship, co-op, or full-time) in developmental projects and/or operational environments with safety-critical hardware
- Experience creating test plans, specifications, and other documentation for the development of flight hardware
- Experience with design fundamentals and material and process practices
- Experience providing guidance and on-site support for manufacturing, production, and integration activities
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and technically assisting others
- Ability to take ownership of work and be passionate about the mission
- Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest quality
- Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Minimum of 6 years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures
