About the role
The Technical Designer will manage the product lifecycle from pre-fitting through production fit approval for childrenswear. This role partners closely with the Director of Technical Design and works cross-functionally with overseas teams, agents, and vendors to ensure garments meet fit, construction, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fittings with live fit models, measuring garments, taking detailed fitting notes, editing comments, documenting fit corrections, and communicating updates to overseas teams and factories.
- Create comprehensive initial technical packages and final full graded specifications, and execute fit corrections using diagrams and garment patterns to achieve the desired fit, silhouette, and style.
- Facilitate communication with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve garment construction and production issues.
- Maintain accurate, detailed technical documentation throughout development and production.
- Meet weekly with the Production team to review sample approval status and support compliance with the Time and Action Calendar.
Requirements
- Experience in technical design within apparel.
- Strong communication skills, including coordinating with overseas teams and vendors.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and work with diagrams and garment patterns.
Qualifications
- Experience in childrenswear or related apparel categories is preferred.
- Experience creating technical packages and graded specifications is preferred.
- Experience managing production fit approval processes end to end is preferred.
Skills
- Experience in technical design within apparel.
