Technical Designer

We are presently searching for a Technical Designer for our Chicagostudio. Specific responsibilities will include: Works with team to develop and execute design concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/ or adaptive reuse projectsWorks with team to develop design ideas and create both presentation and construction drawingsFor smaller projects may oversee all design and documentation, with support from senior leadership.Coordinates consultant drawings and develops architectural details to ensure alignment with design solution.Provide review of engineering and landscape drawings to ensure they comply with design solution.With Senior Designer, researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projectsDevelops and delivers overall design and furniture packagesConducts field surveysEnsures adherence to set budget and immediately informs Senior Designer, PM and/or client of any potential variances to the budgetMay mentor the work of Junior and Intermediate DesignersOversee tasks and provide feedback on work productConducts client interviews to determine space needs and requirements Qualifications: Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted6+ years’ experience in workplace design, focusing on corporate interiors and building repositioning and adaptive re-use projects as well as corporate interiors Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Extensive knowledge of design principles, and workplace trendsAdvanced presentation skills Advanced knowledge of space planningExtensive knowledge of furnishings and finishesAdvanced sketching and rendering skillsAdvanced architecture detailing skillsExtensive experience leading the development of project contract documentsExtensive knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirementsWorking knowledge of path of travel requirementsWorking knowledge of contract administrationIntermediate MS Office Suite and Miro skillsAdvanced Revit skillsAdvanced Adobe Creative Suite skills Interior Architects, Inc.
