About the role
Technical Consultants are responsible for establishing partnerships with Ramp customers, acting as a liaison between customers and Ramp’s internal technical teams. They provide technical and financial expertise to customers, design solutions addressing customer needs through Ramp and partner integrations, and define customer success criteria.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Technical Consultant for Enterprise and Strategic Enterprise accounts running Microsoft Dynamics 365, supporting complex, high-impact customers with multi-entity, multi-ERP, and global financial environments.
- Act as a technical advisor to customers and Ramp's internal teams while supporting high-value implementations and expansion opportunities by guiding D365 integration, configuration, and system design.
- Partner with Customer Activation and Account Management teams to assess customer requirements and propose scalable solutions involving D365 Finance & Operations, HRIS, and API integrations.
- Collaborate with onboarding specialists and implementation leads to support technical workstreams, ensuring faster time-to-value and customer success.
- Work with customers to problem-solve technical hurdles and propose effective product implementations with a deep understanding of D365 integration and configuration options.
- Define the customer's financial & technical success criteria from onboarding through activation and expansion.
- Represent Product, Design, and Engineering externally and operate with deep conviction and understanding of Ramp's technical capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, finance, business, or a related field.
- 4+ years in technical consulting, solutions engineering, implementation, or a similar customer-facing technical role, ideally in a SaaS or fintech environment.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations and/or Business Central), including integration patterns and enterprise deployment models.
- Deep familiarity with D365 finance and accounting workflows, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, financial dimensions, and legal entity structures.
- Comfort working with APIs, integration logic, and system architecture and being able to explain those concepts to finance and operations stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Design on enterprise-driven gaps, influencing roadmap decisions that unlock scale across Ramp's largest customers.
- Advise on non-standard D365 implementations and edge cases, balancing customer needs with long-term platform scalability and supportability.
- Strong communication skills: able to translate complex technical solutions into business value and guide customers toward scalable approaches.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering.
- Exceptional organization and problem-solving skills, with a bias toward action and a high level of ownership.
- Thrives in ambiguity and fast-paced environments; adaptable and resourceful as we scale Ramp's upmarket motion.
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, particularly in Finance & Operations and HRIS.
- Experience with integrating D365 with other systems and APIs.
- Understanding of financial accounting principles and ERP systems.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
