About the role

Under limited supervision and established practices, the Technical Claims Specialist is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, and disposition of Complex Unit Auto and General Liability cases of moderate to high exposure.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and manage complex environmental claims from initial notice through resolution.
• Analyze policy language, coverage issues, exclusions, conditions, and applicable environmental liability provisions.
• Coordinate with defense counsel, coverage counsel, environmental consultants, and other specialists.
• Investigate claims to determine whether coverage is provided, establish liability, and verify damages.
• Resolve claims within authority and make recommendations regarding case value and resolution strategy to Branch Office Management and HO Examining on cases which exceed authority.
• Work closely with staff and outside defense counsel in managing litigated files according to established litigation management protocols.
• Identify and appropriately handle suspicious claims.
• Identify and appropriately handle claims with third‑party subrogation potential.
• Establish and maintain accurate reserves on all assigned files; make timely reserve recommendations to Branch Office Management and HO Examining on cases which exceed authority.
• Prepare for and attend mediation sessions and/or settlement conferences and negotiate on behalf of LMG and LMG Insureds.
• Monitor trials and report daily to Branch Office and HO Examining; make recommendations regarding strategy based upon developments.
• Confer directly with policyholders on coverage and resolution strategy issues.
• Establish and update Action Plans on assigned claims which clearly reflect file status and disposition strategy.
• Participate in training sessions for less experienced staff.
