Technical Automation Engineer
About the role
Paramount Global is seeking a Technical Automation Engineer / Architect to join the Technology Operations team, focused on automation, scripting, and broadcast systems integration. You will integrate broadcast infrastructure with Skyline DataMiner and other key applications, create intelligent automation using AI to reduce manual operational tasks, and use your broadcast engineering knowledge along with software automation and systems architecture experience to support the design and operation of broadcast systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop automation frameworks and remediation workflows to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and scalability in broadcast and technology environments, enabling systems to recover autonomously and reducing manual intervention.
- Develop scripts and services using Python, PowerShell, and Bash to support system deployments, configuration management, monitoring, and operational processes.
- Integrate playout systems, signal distribution, encoding, and media processing platforms with monitoring and automation platforms such as Skyline DataMiner.
- Design and deploy monitoring, observability, and alerting dashboards providing real-time operational visibility across broadcast workflows.
- Implement event-driven monitoring solutions to detect faults across video transport, playout, and distribution systems.
- Configure and maintain alerting policies, thresholds, escalation workflows, and alarm correlation to improve root cause analysis and reduce operational noise.
- Develop integrations using REST APIs, SNMP, webhooks, and telemetry feeds to ingest operational data into monitoring and automation platforms.
- Build middleware, connectors, and data pipelines that normalize broadcast system telemetry for monitoring dashboards and operational tools.
- Configure and extend Skyline DataMiner connectors and elements, including custom monitoring and data models.
- Build dashboards, visualizations, and alarms within DataMiner based on complex engineering architectures.
- Optimize monitoring capabilities to improve fault detection, incident response, and system observability.
- Review current technology architecture to identify automation opportunities, performance improvements, and operational enhancements; recommend and implement system upgrades and architectural improvements.
- Develop automation strategies that improve reliability and scalability across hardware, software, and network technologies in distributed computing and broadcast environments.
- Collaborate with broadcast engineering, operations, and technology teams to address operational and business needs with scalable, adaptable technical solutions.
- Ensure automation solutions adhere to corporate security, compliance, privacy, and governance policies.
- Provide technical direction throughout the project lifecycle, including architecture design, implementation, and operational support.
- Mentor team members on automation best practices, scripting methodologies, and observability tools.
- Maintain documentation and procedures for automation workflows, knowledge repositories for monitoring architectures, and system integrations.
- Develop processes and tools that improve incident response, troubleshooting efficiency, and operational workflows.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and automation practices, recommending new tools and techniques where appropriate.
Requirements
