Technical Assistant - Surgical Services Pre & Post (PRN)

About the role

Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings.

Responsibilities

• Receives assignments as delegated by the RN.
• Accesses and reports data reflective of the patient’s status to identify patient needs.
• Performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant, and other duties as assigned within their scope.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Certification from Virginia Board of Nursing - preferred.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.
• Phlebotomy and medical terminology (preferred).

Additional Skills/Requirements

• Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
• Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. (use Safe Handling Equipment for weights over 35 lbs.).
• May require the use of safety equipment, such as HEPA mask, for infection prevention.
• On-call responsibilities as directed.
• Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.

Pay

The base compensation range for this role is $16.75 - $23.39 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
