Technical Assistant I or II (Nursing)

SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a part-time, 10-month Technical Assistant I or II to support the Nursing Department Skills and Simulation Laboratories.

Schedule

• 22.5 hours per week
• Flexible hours to accommodate evening classes 2-3 times per week and 3-5 weekend days each semester
• Additional evening/weekend hours may be required depending on semester needs
• Assistance required prior to the start and after the end of each semester for lab preparation and cleanup

Responsibilities

• Assist staff and faculty before, during, and after lab and simulation activities
• Set up, support during, and clean up Skills and Simulation Laboratories (supplies, equipment) after scheduled sessions
• Operate simulation equipment during sessions and ensure proper shutdown and storage afterward
• Maintain working order of laboratory equipment and simulation manikins, including assisting with maintenance records
• Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment, including scheduling replacements for equipment and manikins
• Prepare laboratory and simulation spaces prior to the start of each semester and assist with cleanup at the end
• Provide support to other laboratory and simulation staff/faculty as directed

Requirements

For the Technical Assistant I position:

• Appropriate associate’s degree or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and related work experience

For the Technical Assistant II position:

• Associate’s degree in a related field

• Working knowledge of health care procedures and equipment
• Knowledge of simulation equipment and manikins is highly desired
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfort in a diverse, student-centered environment and commitment to the community college mission

Pay

• Technical Assistant I: $26.75 per hour
• Technical Assistant II: $29.10 per hour
