About the Role
Bring our games to life as a translator between art and engineering, working closely with the game studio artists and engineers to ensure that the player-facing vision for the game is achieved. Manage and improve the content creation pipeline, work with game artists on asset implementation, and stay current on game industry tools and processes.
Responsibilities
- Implement art assets in 2D and 3D games.
- Participate in the planning, architecting, and implementing of game functionality.
- Identify and fix code errors and performance bottlenecks.
- Ensure the optimal performance, quality, and responsiveness of games.
- Optimize memory and space usage.
- Work with scripting, animation, session management, and textures.
- Assist artists and engineers with technical issues related to the art pipeline.
- Document best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant work experience in technical art, animation, or a related field.
- 1 year of game development experience or academic equivalent (an asset but not required).
Skills
- Working knowledge of Godot, Unity, Unreal, or equivalent game engine.
- Understanding of versioning software (e.g., Git, Perforce, CVS).
- Experience with game assets (e.g., meshes, animations, materials).
- Experience in profiling and optimizing game and render performance (GPU and CPU).
- Understanding of the game design process and experience working with a game development team.
- Strong troubleshooting and error identification skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with junior and senior colleagues.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Schedule
This role requires on-site presence 4 days a week at our studio in Raleigh, North Carolina.
