Technical Architect - Mainframe Appl. Architect

About the role

The primary responsibility is to cleanse data in the current legacy Benefit Payments System and convert the data to Oracle. The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist in maintaining the Tax and Financial Accounting and Reporting System (FARS) systems and work on the Interfaces related to client.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the FARS systems and work on the FARS Modernization project including data cleansing and conversion.
• Work with other technical teams to ensure that the mainframe system is properly integrated with other systems and technologies.
• Help resolve technical issues that arise with the mainframe system, including diagnosing and resolving problems, and developing and implementing preventative measures to minimize the risk of future issues.

Requirements

• Knowledge of VSAM and Hierarchical database structures
• Required Skills: Technical knowledge and experience with mainframe technology. COBOL 10 years, CICS 10 yrs, VSAM 10 yrs, and JCL (10 yrs.)
• Knowledge and experience in converting data from one application to another (10 yrs.)
• Successful completion of technology projects within area of responsibility
• Analyzing feasibility, compatibility and cost of solutions
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Benefits

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule, with hours split between remote and onsite. Contractor is expected to report onsite on a consistent basis. The standard schedule is alternating between one week remote and one week onsite, however, depending on management discretion, an alternative schedule may be allowed but depends on workload demands.
