How You’ll Make an Impact
The Technical Advisor- Extrusion (2nd Shift) serves as our subject matter expert for our extrusion processes and equipment. Our Technical Advisors drive innovation and excellence. Working with our Production and Engineering teams to solve customer challenges, resolve process issues to meet business and site performance objectives. In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with internal and external project engineers in developing processes and tooling that meet customer expectations on cost, quality and delivery of new product development.
- Build the technical competencies of operators by sharing process knowledge, problem-solving thought process and techniques, and experience.
- Coach shift teams to troubleshoot to solve operational issues.
- Improve operator's knowledge regarding process and equipment functionality and performance.
- Directly solve problems and support others in their problem-solving and formal root cause analyses.
- Aid in creating, developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Aid in customer complaint investigation and corrective actions for area of expertise.
- Collaborate with maintenance, reliability, and improvement personnel to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Share and leverage knowledge, experience, and best practices with applicable stakeholders.
- Lead and support targeted process and productivity improvement teams (e.g., work with improvement and reliability engineers to resolve operational issues).
- Support work process and best practice implementation.
- Contribute to updating and improving the area's operating discipline and procedures.
- Perform internal compliance auditing to process.
- Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints regarding products and recommend permanent manufacturing improvements to correct and prevent recurrences.
- Diagnose manufacturing problems and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
- Observe and promote Company standards and policies on safety, quality and productivity.
- Understand Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in medical devices and a clean room environment context.
- Convert various units of measurement.
Required Qualifications that Enables Your Success
- A High School or GED Diploma
- 8 + years extrusion experience including process/tooling design, setup, hands-on troubleshooting is essential.
- Experience with thermoplastic extrusion processes including a variety of mixes and materials.
- Experience with MS Office Applications.
- Experience training, coaching, mentoring, and influencing others.
Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward
- Experience with Davis-Standard extrusion machines.
- Experience with Zumbach extrusion equipment.
Your Work Environment
- Standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods
- Working in a lab or manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE provided
- Use of computers and digital tools in an office or hybrid environment
- Occasional lifting or movement of materials
- Adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards
