Tech People Partner (Volunteer)

About the role

Wiseise is hiring a Tech People Partner to support and advocate for our technology team. Our tech volunteers are talented people who give their time for free—they deserve someone in their corner. You'll run regular check-ins to see how they're doing, surface blockers and morale issues early, and act as a first point of contact when friction or conflict comes up—helping resolve it directly or escalating when needed. You'll also spot patterns worth acting on and bring them to leadership. This role is dedicated to the tech department only and reports to the CTO.

We're looking for someone with genuine empathy and a good heart, plus solid experience working with engineers and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular check-ins with tech volunteers to monitor well-being and morale
• Surface and address blockers or issues early
• Act as the first point of contact for friction or conflict within the tech team
• Resolve issues directly or escalate when necessary
• Identify and communicate patterns or trends to leadership for proactive action

Requirements

• Experience working with engineers and technical teams
• Genuine empathy and strong interpersonal skills
• Minimum commitment of 5–10 hours per week
• Minimum commitment of 6 months or longer
• Fully remote role with a flexible schedule

We have two programs:

• A free, on-demand mentorship platform that allows people to request mentorship based on specific needs, interests, background, and experience. Mentors and mentees can specify their interest in short, medium, and long-term mentorship. Mentors choose one or more mentees that resonate with them from a curated list of five mentorship requests. Although the platform is open and free to all, we focus on supporting underserved and disadvantaged people. Mentors and mentees are matched with people who have overcome similar barriers.
• The TechPath Alliance, a city-focused program currently being piloted in Chicago, IL. This initiative brings together nonprofits and for-profits to collaboratively run a 6-month mentoring and career development program for underserved emerging tech professionals.
