About the Role

St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Full-Time Surgical Technologist to join our surgery team. This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse patient populations, providing exceptional care in a 229-bed, acute care hospital located in Enid, OK. St. Mary’s has served the healthcare needs of northwest Oklahoma for over 100 years and hosts more than 125 highly skilled physicians across specialties such as Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare for surgical procedures, assisting the surgeon as needed.
  • Sterilize surgical equipment and assemble scheduled and emergency case carts.
  • Demonstrate correct materials management (instruments, sponges, needles, etc.).
  • Use proper transfer techniques for sharps and perform counting of surgical objects per policy.
  • Ensure accountability and proper care of surgical specimens.
  • Adhere to OSHA exposure plan guidelines and consistently practice procedures to protect self and others.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the surgery environment and use correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Function within all surgery specialties, including Ortho, Neuro, General, Vascular, OB/GYN, Plastic, Cysto, Uro, and Opth.
  • Scrub for operative procedures, demonstrating good aseptic technique, perioperative safety, and infection control guidelines.
  • Assist the nurse in patient care, including patient prep, positioning, and transportation.

Requirements

Certified Requirements:

  • Certification as a surgical technologist (CST) required.
  • 1-2 years of scrubbing experience in an operating room setting.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Good communication and basic computer skills.

Non-Certified Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Surgical technology preparation and/or experience in operating room technique required.
  • Nurse Aide experience preferred.
